Foundation for Pottstown Education’s Early College Program Receives Funding
The Foundation for Pottstown Education’s Early College Program was a recipient of $5,610 from The First Presbyterian Church in Pottstown Mary N. Porter Designated Fund of the Community Foundation of Broward County. Co-Pastors Karen Pidcock-Lester and W. Carter Lester along with parishioner, David Allebach were on hand recently to award the Foundation’s Executive Director, Joe Rusiewicz the funding.

Through a donation from the Gulati Family Foundation to the Foundation for Pottstown Education, the Rupert Fourth Grade visited the brand new low ropes course at Althouse Arboretum to participate in a low ropes course. The low ropes course is designed to encourage leadership, expand communication skills, promote self-discovery, and increase self-esteem.

Name the Newsletter Contest Winner Announced
The Foundation for Pottstown Education has a new name for its quarterly newsletter thanks to Pottstown Middle School student, Matthew Zaborsky. Beginning with the Fall 2017 edition, the publication will be named Pottstown Education News, PEN.

PHS Cross Country Team Camp
Pottstown High School Cross Country Team was able to participate in a training camp this past summer thanks to donation provided by the Foundation for Pottstown Education. Twenty five athletes and two of their coaches attended Camp Canadensis in the Poconos spending four days training, kayaking, rock climbing and accumulating more than 30 miles of running.

Through funding provided by the Foundation for Pottstown Education more than 70 fourth grade students from Rupert Elementary School visited the brand new low ropes course at Althouse Arboretum. The low ropes course is designed to encourage leadership, expand communication skills, promote self-discovery, and increase self-esteem. Each program is tailored to your groups specific needs based on ages and abilities of the group.

In March 2017, Dr. Myra Forrest retired from the Foundation of Pottstown Education after serving as its Executive Director and most recently as the Early College Program Coordinator. Dr. Forrest was instrumental in many programs and projects with this Foundation, most notably, the Pottstown Promise Early College Program.

Pottstown Residency Program Update SuperUser Account
In April 2017, the Foundation for Pottstown Education Board of Directors approved a new initiative to increase the number of employee-owned and occupied residences within the Borough of Pottstown by making homes more affordable. This initiative, the Residency Program, provides eligible applicants who work for the Pottstown School District, up to $10,000 in the form of a forgivable loan. The funds can be used for closing costs, down payments, or other expenses directly related to the purchase of property determined to be eligible for the program.
